The main characters in this book are General Robert E. Lee or in the book referenced as Bob Lee, General Longstreet and also Colonel Chamberlain. All of these main characters were introduced in the forward section of the book. General Lee was five foot six inches tall, he was short legged and he and General Longstreet both did not drink which the Englishman thought was strange that they did not drink. Longstreet was General Lee’s second in command since Jackson died and believed in fighting a defensive war. Chamberlain was a man who did not believe in shooting his own men.
Jimmy Hoffa’s full name was James Riddle Hoffa. Jimmy Hoffa was born in Brazil, Indiana on February 14, 1913. Hoffa moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1924 when he was about eleven. After his father who was a popular coal miner passed away when Hoffa was only seven years old. Little did he know he was gonna call Michigan home for the rest of his life.
James “Jimmy” Riddle Hoffa, was a well-known individual and a fierce leader of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Hoffa was President of the Teamsters from 1958 until 1971, and he was very passionate about the working man and their rights regarding fair wages, working conditions and benefits. Hoffa disappeared about four years after he was released from prison and his death still remained a mystery until 2004. His deep connection with the Mafia leads society to believe they had something to do with this disappearance, but nothing has ever been proved. Although Jimmy Hoffa is well known for some union corruption, his fellow union workers still supported him until the end.
