The KKK was an organization that discriminated against African americans. They did not like them, because they didn't want the african american to The Klan started in 1866. By 1870 it almost extended into all of the southern states. They made laws called the Jim Crow laws that basically encouraged segregation between the blacks and whites. The Jim Crow laws were laws that were very bad, and in my opinion pushed america back to the days of slavery. The white people thought that the blacks were lesser than them, and treated them very badly. The Jim crow laws enforced segregation, and every state and local government had their own Jim Crow laws that were passed to keep the whites and blacks separated. The KKK was founded by six confederate army veterans from a town in Tennessee called Pulaski. The KKK was also known as the Klan for short. The klan was founded on December 24 th 1865. The Ku Klux Klan was a fast spreading organization that pushed for white supremacy. Their goals were to resist the new laws that the republican party had passed to make blacks and whites a little bit more equal. They planned a lot of extremely violent acts against African Americans. They began burning crosses, staging rallies, and violence towards people they felt weren't apart of the groups. The KKK in the 1870 was in almost every southern state in America. They murdered, raped, lynched, bombed, and even committed arson agents blacks. Their one and only goal was to oppress the Blacks, and never let them get ahead. They went on wild rampages, and killed every black person they saw. They also burned down entire black villages just to prove they were better than them. The KKK didn't just hurt and kill black people, they killed all people that stood in their way white or black. The first members of the KKK didn't wear the white suits they are known for today. They wore anything they had to cover their faces weather it was a pillowcase, or even an old dirty potato sack with holes cut into it for the member to see out of.
