The fact that the Jim Crow laws are based on bad reasoning is what stands out to me the most. First of all, all the laws are based on the belief that African Americans were inferior to the whites. Racial pride is fine, but it’s really stupid when laws are made based purely on pride. For example, one law states that “books should not be interchanged between schools of white and color.” What kind of law is that !? Blacks are not allowed to have the books of the whites because blacks are thought to be inferior. Whites are not allowed to have the books of black because the whites do not want to be infected with the inferiority of the blacks. That’s just dumb. Being inferior does not determine whether or not they should share books, because state being inferior cannot be passed on. One must also note that being inferior is simply a belief. It has not been proven in a condition where both races are on fair grounds.The only way these laws could have been kept enforced is because the dominant party, the whites, wants to keep these laws going. The whites want to feel superior, because that belief has be rooted in the South for many years. In addition, the victims, the blacks, cannot resist, because they do not have the power to do so. …show more content…

She wishes to get a job related to writing and journaling. On the other hand, most of her friends and her mother wishes for Skeeter to become a proper lady. This includes marrying and staying home to raise a child. This eventually leads Skeeter to argue with her mother a couple of times. Furthermore, many of the people in her town could have thought that Skeeter was homosexual, a very insulting condition at that time. Skeeter also wishes to expose the injustice that the African Americans faced in the South.
