The Resilience of Lisa Jura The Children of Willesden Lane, by Mona Golabek, is about a girl named Lisa Jura who is 14 at the time she is sent on the Kindertransport. When she gets to London she never gives up the hope of seeing her family again. Over the course of the story Lisa makes wonderful friends, is reunited with one of her sisters, and earns a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. By the end of the story Lisa is around 20-21 and is reunited with her older sister, her sister’s husband, their daughter, and has made her first debut. Even though there are many times Lisa wants to give up she never does using love, bravery, music, hope and just pure resilience to pull her though.

When they both finally meet again, the boy and girl ignore each other, leading to both of them moving on with their own lives. This story is about a girl named Billie who was who lived with her father on a farm near the school. The students would bully her for being a tomboy doing things like playing cricket, wrestling, fighting and doing farm work or wanting to be a farmer like her father. They would call her “smelly Billie” and put her down because of her dreams to be a father saying thing like “who want to drive that noisy tractor. One day she didn’t come to school and rumor spread that her father died when she came back to class give her card because they felt bad for treating her bad. Billie didn’t appreciate the card seemed to act normal but days later she ends up crying in class and let go of all emotions that had been build up inside her.
One time at school, Becky looked in the teacher’s book that no one was allowed to see and accidentally ripped one of the pages. She was terrified of getting a beat from the schoolmaster, but when the time came, Tom took the blame for her. Though he had already received a beating right before, he cared for Becky and so he took another one. Ultimately, this led Becky to like Tom again after their dispute a few days before, and so because of his bravery, Tom was able to get his girl back. Not only do boys and girls envy Tom, but various adults as well who wish they had found someone by their mid-twenties but failed.

When she was 15 years old she slowly changed and now wanted to be independent and didn 't like to follow the rules anymore. By the end of the story, she broke all the rules and wanted to follow her heart 's desires.
