“We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already.” -J.K. Rowling, 2008. J.K. Rowling is the author of the now famous series Harry Potter. She was able to overcome challenges to create a huge world that has inspired many people. J.K. Rowling created a famous book series, persisted to innovate these books, and illuminated the world.

“Rowling worked on a book, the idea for which had reportedly occurred to her while she was traveling on a train from Manchester to London in 1990.” (“J. K. Rowling”, n.d.) This book was the first book of the famous series Harry Potter. “In 1998 the book was published in the United States as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and Pottermania began.” (“J. K. Rowling”, 2016.) This series is now well known and very popular. Rowling never expected her series to become so popular, so it was a pleasant surprise for her. "I thought I'd written something that a handful of people might quite like. So this has been something of a shock." (J. K. Rowling”, 2016.) Rowling faced many rejections while trying to publish her books. However, she innovated through persisting and her series became famous. “After a number of rejections, she finally sold the book.” (“J. K. Rowling”, n.d.) If she had given up, Harry Potter may never have existed. Also, her name may have driven away her readers - young boys - because it was a female name. “The book was first published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in June 1997, under the name J.K. Rowling.
