Who is J.K. Rowling? How did she become a top selling author? We all know about her books, such as the Harry Potter series and Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them, but what is her story? She had been through so much trauma, such as her mother’s death, divorce, single parenthood, and rejection twelve times with Harry Potter. She never gave up even in her darkest hours, and that is what inspires me not to give up. I am not old enough to have gone through all of that, but if she can get back up, then I can continue following my dream as well. J.K. Rowling had a rather normal childhood. The book had been rejected twelve times by publishing houses when finally an editor by the name of Barry Cunningham took her book and made her dream finally come true. It was because of Cunningham’s daughter that he gave the book a chance. Rowling once said, “You sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve.” I believe that she had a lot of nerve and now if you take a look at her you will see she had the guts to try and pursue her dreams (Nigel Newton). In 2004, J.K. Rowling was named the 197th richest person in the U.K. with an estimated fortune of £600 million. She now has a fortune of £650 million, which is about $830 million in the United States. Can you imagine living in poverty at one point and being a millionaire the next? In my opinion, you don’t get to where J.K. Rowling is without living the journey first. It took everything she had to not give up.
