J. K. Rowling Joanne Rowling, most known as J. K. Rowling, is a famous 51-year-old female British writer and the author of one of the most popular book series ever, Harry Potter. She was born on July 31th, 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England. Her parents are Peter James Rowling and Anne Rowling, and has a little sister called Dianne. Because of her father’s work, her family moved frequently, so the family moved to Winterbourne, where she attended St. Michael’s Primary School. Later, she moved to Tutshill, where she attended Tutshill Church of England Primary School until she changed to Wyedean Comprehensive, where her mother worked. Then, in 1990, the idea for the Harry Potter story came to her mind while she was on a four-hour-delayed train trip and she started writing as soon as she reached her home. Unfortunately, her mother died months later, so she couldn’t show it to her. Years later, she moved to Porto, Portugal, where she worked as an English teacher. In 1992, she married Jorge Arantes, a television journalist, and in 1993, their daughter Jessica wan born. They separated, consequently, she returned to the UK with her daughter and the first three chapters of her first book. Thence, she endured many hardships, such as being jobless and pursued by her ex-husband. When she finished her book in 1995, she presented it to many editorials, yet only one Bloomsbury accepted to publish it. The book became a success. Subsequently, she kept writing the rest of the series’ books until the last one was published in 2007. Thereafter, she has been writing another book series called Cormoran Strike, and books from the Harry Potter universe.
