The next chapter was Carrie McCandless viewpoint on traveling to see where her older brother Christopher McCandless died. When Carrie was in the helicopter flying to the ominous bus, she could not believe that Chris had backpacked through such terrain and lived off the land for one hundred days. Jeannette 's relationship with her siblings is a kind and close relationship. For example, when they lived in Phoenix she was always did everything with Brain. Instead of being too critical, Delpit states that you should learn the child’s culture/country to form a positive bond between the student and teacher. Chapters 1820 depict how something so special to you can be taken right out of your life. Often people can be taken for granted and such as with the time they give or the love they give. In these couple of chapters there was to be a bad hurricane. Janie and Tea Cake her husband had been warned they did not listen to the warnings and were eventually caught into the storm. This ultimately resulted in the loss of friends and houses along with the lost of Tea Cake her third husband which was bitten by a rabid dog and given rabies.
The story touches on things such as poverty, alcoholism, bullying, abuse, etc. It is an extremely eye-opening, humbling book that shows you that you can change your life around no matter how you were raised. This book is relatable to many people, including children and teenagers who are or may have gone through some of the same things that Jeannette and her siblings did. The theme that most resonated with me while reading the book was alcoholism. It is something that has been a part of my family life for a long time.
My reading begin today with Darcey and Jamie preparing for school and acting like they didn’t see their mom cry. My reading was mostly about Darcey and Jamie's life at high school and their friends. My reading ended with Darcey friend telling Darcey her boyfriend is cheating on her. What will happen next will Darcey confront Harem. Or will she think her friend lies.

By doing this she becomes a much stronger person and she gains more confidence and finds courage to save herself.

In the reading from We Are Your Sisters: Black Women in the Nineteenth Century, Dorothy Sterling explores the many experiences of mainly African American women during the period of the Reconstruction era. Sterling states “whites put aside random acts of violence in favor of organized terror.” She focuses a lot on those experiences that involves the Ku Klux Klan (who were the organization responsible for these organized terror) and in a way, it seems fair because they were the main perpetrators of hate crimes against the African American community. The first few examples provided in the reading offer accounts of African American women whose husbands are often targets of the Ku Klux Klan because they were politicians or high-profile radicals in the South.
