For centuries, leaders have been significant in our world. They make a tremendous impact on how we view life, for better or for worse. However, some leaders leave longer lasting impressions on us than others, like Joan of Arc, Hatshepsut, and Mother Teresa. These female leaders all possessed important characteristics that helped them achieve their goals; intelligence, courage, and responsibility. However, it is believed that at first, Hatshepsut had no interest in ruling, but some historians “…suggest that a political crisis…obliged Hatshepsut to become Pharaoh.” (Smithsonianmag.com) An emergency may have been the reason she stepped up to the throne. In this era, women were looked down upon, even if they were born into royalty. So not only did Hatshepsut step up to the throne, she took the role of a man.
