Leadership Profile There were two great leaders in the previous generation and both had many followers. Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, The Grand Rabbi of Satmar, and The Lubavitch Rabbi, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. These two Rabbi’s were similar in many ways. They were both Torah giants. If it can be said of a person at all then both of them would be under the category of people who knew the entire Torah. Both Rabbi‘s had their unique and extremely different ways of serving God and both built huge communities and set strong foundations for their path and way of Avodas Hashem. It is amazing how their oppsite ways brought about the same goal. People can often do opposite jobs and still accomplish the same goal. For instance two people working in a trucking company. One might be loading up the trucks, and the other unloading the trucks. Even if it's obvious that their jobs are the exact opposite of each others they both accomplish the same goal. Getting the goods to its destination. The Ahavas Yisroel, Rabbi Yisroel Hager OB“M added on this that a smart one remembers that the other tzaddik was also shown that his way is right. Disagreements happen because this point is forgotten. Diversity is not a problem, but thinking that another way other than your own is wrong is a problem. He was a very learned man. He studied all the subjects on earth, therefore he also wanted to study the Torah. He brought down many Chachmim to translate the Torah to Greek. The day they were done in Chodesh Teves is remembered to Klal Yisroel as a dark day. It was dark for three days because it was a very sad event. The Chasam Sofer explaines that before it was translated all chochmos were in the Torah and exclusive to Torah learners, when the Torah was translated its Kavod-Honor plummeted. Therefore, the Satmar people don't believe in spreading Torah by translating it or making it too accesible for the entire world and all nations.
