Progressing Printing Johannes Gutenberg, a German goldsmith, designed a machine to accomplish the idea of being able to work the printing process in a more efficient and successful way. Within his work, he was competent enough to initiate his invention. A major advancement that contributed an incredible change in Europe was the creation of the printing press, which helped impact society in various ways. From making the copies of important documents, books, and other reading materials easier; to the swift spread of information, the printing press inspired the most change. Years prior to the creation of the efficient printing press, the process of printing copies was reluctant. The procedure could include a scribe perpetually writing by hand from a dictation of a scholar to replicate a book (Doc E). With Gutenberg’s invention, the concept began to reduce the time it took to copy the writing materials one by one. The evolution of printing transferred the progress into print shops with a printing press (Doc E). The print shops were able to increase the manufacturing of books and other reading materials in a much faster way. From this, important information spread easily without being as delayed as it normally would have with just hand written copies that took months to create. Communication before the invention remained local; however, common people relied from words of mouth to transfer the important information.
