John Fitzgerald Kennedy became the youngest man to be elected president of the United States. Officially on January 20, 1961 Kennedy became President of the United States. At the age of only 43 years old he took the Nation by surprise when he defeated his opponent Richard Nixon to presidency. Once in office President Kennedy took matters in his own hands and got to work. With his unique set of charming and charismatic qualities. He fairly quickly became a magnetic figure to the public eye. He was what was known as fresh new face for the upcoming generation. He brought new changes and new upcoming ideas as President. He was able to fulfill his goals in mind and accomplishment many of them by only spending 3 years and less in the White House

Kennedy was a great president because of his ongoing involvement in the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1962, United States got news that the Soviet Union was building missile- launching sites on Cuba. According to an article it states, “After a week of secret deliberations, he announced the discovery to the world and imposed a naval blockade on further shipments of armaments to Cuba” (Cuban Missile Crisis). This shows that Kennedy took initiative and decided not to go to war with the Soviet Union. He knew if he did it cost the lives of millions of Americans and Russians. The only outcomes would be a bloodbath and greater tension between the Nations. Kennedy knew making a blockade was not illegal so there be no reason for the Soviet Union to attack right away.
