John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK), the second son of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and Joseph Patrick Kennedy Sr. , was born on May 29,1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts in a highly Catholic Irish family(John). JFK was the second oldest out of nine siblings, five boys and four girls. John ,also called Jack by his parents and siblings, was raised by his driven father and religious, disciplined mother. Every summer the Kennedys would go to their vacation house and play around. There the boys of the Kennedy family would have competitions against each other driving their competitiveness with each other especially between John and his older brother Joseph. John F. In 1952 he was elected into the United States Senate. During this time he married Jacqueline Bouvier. John wrote a book called Profiles in Courage about US Senators who had risked their careers to fight for the things in which they believed in and won a Pulitzer Prize award. The same year, the Kennedys’ first child, Caroline Kennedy, was born. John became a very popular politician among the people.In July of 1960 John F. Kennedy was nominated to become president with Lyndon B. Johnson as his vice president by the democratic party. Kennedy later become the youngest man to ever become president and the first Catholic president, beating out Richard M. Nixon at the age of forty-three. On January 20,1961 John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th president of the United States of America. Before his inauguration, John and Jacqueline’s second child, John Jr., was born. JFK and his wife Jacqueline brought new life into the White house. Jacqueline had restored all the rooms in the White house as she thought the White house was a place to celebrate American history. One of the first things President Kennedy did was that he created the Peace Corps. This program, which still exists today, allowed Americans to volunteer to work anywhere in the world where assistance is needed.
