“You are free to choose, but your choice is not free from consequence”-(theinternetmom.com). In the book Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes, Mr. Hancock, a very wealthy man, placed an order with the Lapham’s who were in need of income. The order was not finished by Saturday and it was expected Monday morning. So, Johnny was faced with a decision to wait until Monday and displease Mr. Hancock or work on a Sunday and break the law. Everyone agrees that working on Sunday was against the law; however some think he should have tried to finish the order on Sunday, while others think he should not have tried to finish it on Sunday.
They show a burger with all the fresh ingredients that wendy's is known for trying to bring in more customers. This is logos and pathos it is logos because it says facts and has reasoning. It is pathos because the billboard shows a fresh burger to make people hungry and want to stop and
The boys in the Butt Room react to Brinker’s accusation as a joke, and playfully accuse Gene of his attempt to purposely hurt Finny and knock him out of the tree. The boys start to question gene of what happened during the time of the fall, and if he was the one who purposely caused Finny to lose his balance. The reason Gene is to play along and make up a story about his attempt to murder Finny was to hide the truth of his actions and to keep them from finding out “ Oh, you know about the tree, I tried to let my face fall guilty, but I felt instead as though it were being dragged toward. Yes, huh, yes there was a small, a little contretemps at the tree” (Knowles 90).
Finny was the top athlete at the school; even broke the swimming record without any preperation. However, his grades were barely passing, which was something he envied of Gene. Gene was one of the best students in his school and was determined to get valedictorian. Unlike Finny and his grades, Gene was a good athlete as well. Finny is very charismatic, slightly selfish, and always can get himself out of trouble.
Dale piece the Persian ceiling is a beautiful piece the bright colors and the unusually shaped objects are just breath taking some pieces where flattened out and many of the shapes resemble jellyfish and other sea animals and it’s so amazing because it’s all glass nothing else. The glass used in the Persian are small, dense, and rare core-formed vessels that appeared during 1500B.C. in Egypt and again in 1300B.C. in Mesopotamia. Another pieces that I admire is the sculpture honoring Harriet Wyche. The sculpture is made of rose-colored Polyvitro, a material that Chihuly Studio creates by casting a special formula of polymer resins and dyes using molds formed from large “chunks” of glass. The Polyvitro elements are crystal-like in shape, and individual masses are attached to a central armature of powerful-coated, exterior-grade stainless steel to create a tower that is over eight feet tall.
John Knowles, author of A Separate Peace, uses both character development and setting to support his decision in selecting the title. He uses the main characters of Gene and Phineas (Finny) and their troubled yet deeply bonded friendship as a way to illustrate the separate peace that takes place both within the boys themselves and in the friendship that is built between the two. Knowles also uses the setting of the novel to demonstrate the vast difference between the peaceful Devon School grounds and the war raging outside of the school’s walls. The title, A Separate Peace, as chosen by the author is symbolic of the main characters, Finny and Gene’s, struggle to find peace within themselves and with each other while set in a place that significantly contrasts the events of the real world.
During a period of time there were two best friends named Gene and Finny. They are very competitive with each other on any activities they completed. One boy has natural skills unlike the other boy who has to work very hard for what he wants. The hard working boy, Gene does not like the way that Finny never has to put effort into anything to get what he wants. Gene has strong feelings for Finny, but later Gene wanted more recognition for his accomplishments from Finny.
Adulthood: for many not part of it, it is seen as a scary, foreign world. The moment one leaves the safety of childhood to become an adult varies between people and cultures. For Gene Forrester, the protagonist in the coming-of-age novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles, adulthood begins with the fall of his friend, Phineas. Set at New Hampshire’s Devon Prep School during the years of 1942-1943, A Separate Peace follows Gene and Phineas until they reach maturity. The moment that Phineas falls from the tree symbolizes when Gene falls from innocence.

Dear Diary, Last night I was almost caught by Uncle Parris when the girls and I were out “dancing” in the woods. We weren’t really dancing though, I was trying to make a wish come true. I wished that my beloved John Proctor would love me and that we could spend the rest of eternity together. Deep down inside I also hoped that maybe this whole scene, that they call witchery, might have John pay more attention to me and notice that I am the right woman for him.
Finny and Gene’s Friendship Friendship is very important in this story. Friendship is very important for a person’s well-being. In this book titled A Separate Peace by John Knowles the reader learns a lot about friendship in this book.
The type takes the form of the skull as if to emphasize every curve and detail of the shape tells a story, which is true for someone well versed in osteology or anatomy.
