John Green
John Michael Green is a beast and that’s all there is to it. He is an extraordinary author for many reasons. One of those are because he gives a different insight to the minds of teenagers, but provides it in a very serious and funny way. His writing has shaped him into the man he is today.
Green was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 24, 1977. His parents are Mike and Sydney Green. He grew up in two states: Alabama and Florida. These states are actually places that two of his books took place.
He went to school at three different schools. One of the places he attended is Lake Highland Preparatory School in Florida, which is a private school. Another is Indian Springs School which is located in Alabama. College was a different …show more content…

When he graduated from school, Green “worked as a student chaplain… in a children’s hospital.” (famousauthors.org). He hung out with kids who were sick and this was what actually stemmed him to become an author. Green ended up working for the Booklist where he “wrote numerous reviews on literary fictions mostly concerning conjoined twins or religion of Islam” (famousauthors.org). When he was working, he started to write his first book, Looking for Alaska. With this Green “introduced more philosophical approach to the issues in a teenager’s life” (famousauthors.org). In the book a young man named Miles transfers to Culver Creek in Alabama. There he meets a few friends and there’s one girl in particular that he falls in love with and that’s Alaska Young. In the book there is a Before and After section. The Before half is when Alaska is around and the After half is when she has died. This effected Miles the most and he was wondering about questions which aren’t so simple to answer. Why? Why did this happen to me? What happened to her? Green ends up explaining it all. Alaska went out one night because she forgot her mom’s birthday and went to take flowers to the grave, when she crashed her car and died. John Green wrote in Looking for Alaska, “After all this time, it still seems to me like straight and fast is the only way out-but I choose the labyrinth” (Green, 216). His other works include, An Abundance of Katherines, which was published in 2006, part of 21 Proms in 2007 along with several other authors, Paper Towns (2008), Let it Snow: Three Holiday Romances (2008) with Lauren Myracle and Maureen Johnson, Will Grayson, Will Grayson (2010) with David Levithan who is another young adult writer, and The Fault in Our Stars which was published in 2012. The book was made into a motion picture in 2014 which includes actress, Shailene Woodley and actors, Ansel Elgort and Nat
