Structure: In the UK most of the healthcare sector is funded and managed by the NHS, this involves over 80% of how much healthcare is spent in the UK. It has around 1.7 million staff. This makes it the biggest employer in Europe and the one largest employer in the world. But the NHS functions by its self in all four countries of the UK. However the NHS in England is the biggest of the UK and has an income of up to £92.5 billion. But in 2007/08 higher education institutions in the UK had a total income of £23 billion and employee around 169,995 people. In 2007/08 the NHS had around 2,306,000 students in higher education.
