Two Treatises of Government was a book written by enlightenment philosopher John Locke (1632-1704) on political philosophy. Locke wrote about the “natural rights” of men in his book. Locke stated that if a government fails to protects its citizens’ natural rights of life, liberty, and property, the government becomes a tyranny. Locke also stated that when under a tyrannical government, people have the natural right to rebel. In this book, Locke argues that sovereign power resides in the people, who may reject a monarch who does not obey the law. This book supported the “Glorious Revolution” in England.
