This article will provide insight as to who William Grant Still was and what he did to illuminate his brilliance, and why he deserves to have his name forever etched in music’s history. Very few composers back in Still’s prime have been able to concoct memorable musical works of art. Although many have tried, few etched their name in music’s timeline. Listening to one of his pieces titled “Suite for Violin and Piano, Mvt. III” it becomes audibly evident of how jazz came to be what it is now. Still cut a path to new heights when it came to jazz.
It also stuck out to me how in the end the classical work used the repetitive sounding of the trumpets in somewhat spaced-out intervals to help capture this idea of great accomplishment or triumph. The overall feeling of the piece was that it did not have any movement conveyed in it but that more so on the contrary that it seemed to give a message of standing strong and firm like an unmovable
There are many differences and similarities between the fourth movement of Beethven’s Fifth symphony and the fourth movement of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, whether it is the orchestrastion of the pieces, the dynamics, form and period. Ludwig van Beethoven is one of the most well known Classical composers in music history, born into a family of musicians and was seen by his father as a profitable prodigy and had several of his piano compositions published by the age of twelve. He was the first successful freelance composer and changed the way music was composed and performed as he composed pieces that defied the standard ways of composing during the Classical era by using an expanded form structure, larger orchestra, dramatic themes and replaced minuet and trio with scherzo and trio making the third movements of his symphonies faster than traditionally performed. He also treated instruments as individuals instead of grouping them together such as the bass instruments which originally formed the Basso continuo. Beethoven experimented with the ways an instrument could be played , creating new sounds, and would have large pitch ranges between instruments which aided in the expressiveness and drama of his pieces.
Mozart, however, changed the mold. He incorporated an emotional side into his works and emphasized music based off of sound, notes, tone, and pitch as a form of art outside of religion (Brown 55). Music became more broad and open to all. In addition, Mozart had extraordinary performance skills thus, leading to his honor as an embodiment of classical movement (53). “Despite Mozart’s uncouthness and immaturity, he produced one work after another that seemed divinely sponsored as they transcended his own personality.

In Beethoven’s Symphony 5 and his Symphony 9, movement IV are both composed with very simple notes, which are then taken to complex levels which make them what they are today. With that said, this makes it very similar to Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 94, the “Surprise” Symphony. The similarities include the complex use of simple notes turned into long, creative pieces of music for both the composer's’ works. However, the differences are not to noticeable, but pretty significant once analyzed thoroughly. For example, the theme for Haydn’s the “Surprise” Symphony are played shortly and the total of four variations, make up the rest of symphony.

I recall an Andy Warhol joke was made with Schoenberg and I laughed along with those in the audience that laughed because I had the knowledge of Schoenberg and Warhol to understand the reference. When the discussion moved onto Mozart and his Great Mass in C Minor, I vividly understood the breakdown of the mass; Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Benedictus. As the panel discussed the Agnus Dei was missing in Mozart’s piece, I was able to follow the conversation rather than ignorantly watch musical professionals’ converse about music. Introduction I chose to do my research paper on Mozart because I wanted to learn more about Mozart’s life and his compositions. Mozart was the most famous composer of all time. His music is used in movies, nursery rhymes and in commercials. ‘’The final trilogy’’ are the most recognized pieces of music ever composed by Mozart.
For the classical period, I chose “Symphony No. 8 ‘Le Soir’” by Joseph Haydn, who lived from 1732 to 1809. In this piece, I heard the violin, the cello, the bass, the clarinet, the flute, the piano, and the French horn. The first movement, Allegro Molto, had a pretty sound that made me feel happy. The flutes sounded like butterflies fluttering and the tune reminded me of princess movies like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty because of the light feeling the violins gave. The second movement, called Andante, flowed very well at the beginning and reminded me of a river, the way all of the instruments came together.
Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) was a foremost nineteenth century composer. His works grew the Romantic repertoire: four symphonies, choral works including the German Requiem, many large and small ensemble works, piano and organ works, and folk song arrangements. The focus of this paper is on his impact on the clarinet repertoire. This paper begins with a brief biography, followed by a discussion of Mozart’s compositional influence on Brahms, next a brief history of the sonatas, then a stylistic analysis of his Sonata in F Minor No. 1, and finishing with Brahms’s influence on the clarinet. This piece is fast and enjoyable piece which gets me into a nice piece. The first piece of music I every played on piano was Ode to Joy which Beethoven composed. Ludwig Van Beethoven was an enjoyable composer which impacted myself and many others. Even though he was raised poorly he impacted people who are in that boat. He impacted kids who suffer with disabilities.

Wolfgangus Mozart was a prodigious child, having extraordinary music skills and ability and used it to comprehend his talent; and by prodigious, it basically means that Wolfgangus Mozart was a very in tune talent at a young age with tremendous amount of skills. Prodigy means that a person, preferably a young person, having extraordinary or enhanced skills at something, and in this case it’s music. This eventually led to a successful career, though a very successful, but unfortunate end.

The conservatives were more motivated in writing and composing absolute music while the radical progressives focused more on creating adjustments to the musical structure that included program music and chromatic harmony.
