Introduction To be passionate about a purpose is to love your work and to have the motivation to continue it despite losses and challenges until you are fulfilled. My chosen entrepreneur, John Muir, conservationist, author, and founder of the Sierra Club displayed incredible determination, passion, empathy, and integrity (Immigrant Learning Center). I too have a deep passion for wildlife and wild places, though I practice entrepreneurship more so in my art, for which I am enthusiastic and determined. Like me, Muir had many passions and enjoyed creating new things; he carved clocks and other practical devices, all his own inventions (Sierra Club). Firstly, Muir was disciplined. He immigrated with his parents to the United States from Scotland when he was only 11 and worked on a farm in Wisconsin from dawn until dusk (Immigrant Learning Center). Muir developed a keen sense of self-discipline, and this helped to guide him through the long journey of founding his organization. When he traveled around the globe, exploring wild places, he created new experiences for himself, resulting in more knowledge and an increased ability to discover the natural world scientifically and spiritually. His passion compelled him to create, and when the going got tough, determination allowed Muir to see his projects through. This same process is one I have experienced before with my efforts in lion conservation and with my artistic small business. With these necessary entrepreneurship traits in my toolbelt, I have access to infinite opportunities. Still, there are threats that exist where I lack certain skills. I am not as confident as John Muir, who went off on his own path despite what others said and frequently put himself and his reputation into danger by protecting the Sierra. I am not as comfortable with risk-taking and uncertainty as he was, and in entrepreneurship, being uncomfortable with risk can leave a business stagnant and eventually lead to
