Jon Stewart: The Comedian “I decided not to give a crap about what anybody else thought anymore [and to do] what I wanted to do, with like-minded people who’d bring passion, competence, and creativity to it” (Rogak 84). The beginning of Stewart’s career was slowed by his worrying of what others thought of him. He was working with people who lacked passion and creativity. Stewart’s career soon blossomed after working on his own show. Jon Stewart, through childhood and adulthood struggles, still became successful in his career.

Jon Stewart started earning much more tv time. “The Jon Stewart Show” debuted on MTV on October 25, 1993 (Rogak 53). “The Jon Stewart Show” was a big success it became the second most watched show on MTV (Rogak 61). Stewart signed a five-year contract with Paramount (Rogak 62). After Paramount ended Stewart’s show, he became a regular substitute host for Tom Snyder (Rogak 70). Stewart signed a deal with Letterman’s Worldwide Pants company to eventually host and produce his own talk show (Rogak 71). Stewart earned small roles in popular show such as “The Nanny” and “Newsradio” (Rogak 72). Stewart recorded some live performances that were broadcasted by HBO including Jon Stewart: Unleavened (Rogak 72). Stewart played as Jennifer Beals 's love interest in Wishful Thinking (Rogak 72). Stewart played roles in many movies such as Half Baked, Since You 've Been Gone, and Playing By Heart (Rogak 72). Stewart and his staff won a Peabody Award for excellence in television and radio broadcasting for their satirical coverage of the 2000, presidential campaign (Scherer 8). In 2004, a CNN Crossfire interview was the turning point of Stewart 's career (Feltmate 1). Stewart has won two Peabody Awards and fourteen Emmy Awards so far
