The 70s through 90s were a cool time to be alive with all the cool music, bright colors and crazy clothes, but in this time there were a lot of serial killers and the most notorious one being John Wayne Gacy. He had a terrible childhood making him into the killer he was, next we will be talking about the time of his actual murders, lastly we will be talking about John's experience on death row. Let's start off with his Childhood, John had a terrible childhood and I believe these experiences have led him to be the person he was. John was born on March 17, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He relentlessly got mocked, humiliated,and abused by his father while growing up. Also John's childhood was not just filled with mental abuse but both physical abuse from his father. John's father was a severe alcoholic; he abused him because in his eyes John was not masculine enough. Due to all this built up tension between John and his father he grew really close to his mom and sisters. As a result of all the abuse John developed schizophrenia. …show more content…

He did all this through 1967-1978. But before all of his murders he got arrested for molesting a teenage boy, then paid another teen to beat him up for snitching on him. He killed men that were teens all the way up to early thirties. Gacy murdered his first victim in 1972. In between all the killings John performed as Pogo the clown at numerous local parties, political functions, charitable events, and even children's hospitals.
