John Wayne Gacy, an American serial killer who committed 33 tragic murders during his lifetime. Gacy didn’t have the desire to be a serial killer, but his early childhood contributed to the devastating murderer and child predator he came to be. After Gacy’s first murder, he felt a rush of exhilaration which changed the path of his life, as well as the path’s of his victims' lives forever. As a kid, Gacy would often get abused by his father with a razor strap. A razor strap is a leather strap often used to sharpen razor blades. Not only would Gacy get physically abused, his father also verbally abused him. Growing up, Gacy often got told that he was never good enough, compared to his two sisters, and belittled to an extreme. Ultimately, these forms of abuse led to the murderer Gacy. When Gacy was between the ages of 10 and 12, he was repeatedly molested by a close family friend. This affected Gacy physically and mentally. A little later in life, Gacy and a friend were accused of sexually fondling a young girl, which may be a result of what his family friend did to him. At a young age, Gacy became very sick which caused him to put on a bunch of weight and led to his uncoordinated abilities. This added weight caused him to lose self-esteem, and made him yearn for some attention. While Gacy was sick, he made very frequent visits to the hospital, which his own father didn’t believe in, and thought he was faking.
