Humans often judge others by the first impression they make. Whether that’s being late on the first day of work, or their friendly demeanor. When not fully knowing someone, these factors can speak volumes. However, it is also what allowed John Wayne Gacy to become the most notorious serial killer of all time. Gacy was able to use his charm to lure unsuspecting victims into his home. He did this by offering them a ride, dressing up as a friendly clown, or hiring them to work for his business. His actions cost the lives of 33 young boys and men, and this gave Gacy the title of, “The Killer Clown.” He was not only malicious, but deceptive, and lived a contradicting life. After being accused further, he finally says that he had killed a man, but it was only out of self defense, and leads them to the crawl space. This is where police find three dismembered bodies, but they know there’s more. Once at the police station, Gacy gives a rambling confession. “Gacy’s giving all kinds of statements, saying there’s a body here, a body there, a body in a lake or a lagoon, and a body buried.” Gacy was charged with 33 counts of manslaughter, sentenced to lethal injection, and was pronounced dead on May 10, 1994. His toxic relationship with his father contributed to his murder, as he had been his father’s victim in the past.
