was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1942 to John Wayne Gacy Sr. and Elaine Robinson Gacy. Gacy Jr. was one of three children which included Joanne his older sister and Karen the younger sister. The Gacys’ lived on the northern side of Chicago and raised all three children as Catholics and even sent them to Catholic Schools. The neighborhood they lived in was middle class and younger boys in the neighborhood held down jobs. Gacy Jr. held a couple of jobs and was even involved in the Boy Scouts. Gacy was not one of the popular kids in school but seemed to always be able to make friends. Gacy made a lot of friends while being involved with the Boy Scouts. Gacy loved all the outdoor activities the scouts were involved in and it gave him the chance to be away from his father who was an abusive alcoholic. Besides dealing with his abusive father, Gacy had a lot of medical issues that he was trying to overcome. When Gacy was eleven years old he was playing by a swing set and was hit in the head with a swing. The blow to the head caused a blood clot which was not discovered until he turned sixteen. So from the age of eleven to the age of sixteen Gacy suffered multiple blackouts until the clot was found. At age seventeen Gacy was diagnosed with a rare heart problem which he was hospitalized for several times in his life. Mark Miller said that Gacy took him to his house, tricked him into being tied up, and the raped him. Gacy said that Miller had agreed to have sex with him so that he could earn extra money. Gacy claimed it was a setup by the Jaycees because they opposed him running for the presidency. Four months later Gacy was again charged for hiring another young man to beat up Mark Miller. Dwight Anderson stated that Gacy had hired him to take Miller and beat him up. Anderson said he drove Miller to a wooded area and sprayed him with mace and then beat him. Miller got away by punching Anderson in the face and breaking his nose. The judge ordered Gacy to undergo a psychological evaluation which showed that Gacy had an antisocial personality and he would not benefit from medical treatment. Gacy decided to plead guilty to the sodomy charge and received ten years for the charge. Gacy was a model prisoner while in prison. He kept himself out of trouble and was never involved in violent acts while incarcerated. Marlynn divorced Gacy soon after he entered prison. Gacy knew that if he continued to be a model prisoner that he could be paroled early. After eighteen months in prison Gacy was paroled. On June 18, 1970 Gacy left prison and moved back to Chicago his place of
