John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer were both notorious serial killers from the Midwest, killing a total of 50 males combined. John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer were horrible serial killers that were more alike than we think. They are different in their experiences and how they live life. But the differences are in their similarities. They both had troubled childhoods, problems dealing with their sexuality, and had similar killing styles. The first reason why the killers are both similar and different is because both serial killers had problems as children. John Wayne Gacy was in and out of hospitals in high school and didn’t graduate, but he did attend and graduate from a business college in Chicago. He had a successful career as a building contractor. Secondly, both killers had problems dealing with sexuality. John Wayne Gacy has a history of sexual abuse from a family friend, contractor, and a family friend’s daughter. Though Jeffery Dahmer had no history of sexual abuse, he started having sexual fantasies about men and murdering men by the age of 14. When John Wayne Gacy killed his victims, he targeted young males, like Dahmer. Both killers would make up a reason to lure the men into their homes. The killers would perform nonconsensual sexual acts to their victims before or after killing them. Lastly, John Wayne Gacy and Jefferey Dahmer had similar styles of killing their victims. They both kept the bodies in their homes and would keep the victim's possessions as souvenirs. John Wayne Gacy wouldn’t mutilate the body like Dahmer would. Dahmer got the thrill out of dismembering and taking pictures of the dismembered body
