John Wayne Gacy was one of the most prolific serial killers of his time. He killed more than thirty-three young men. Though, ask his friends and family and they would say that he was one of the most hard working and nicest person they had ever met. Sometimes people are more than meets the eye -- John Gacy being one of them. On March 17, 1942, John Wayne Gacy Jr. was born at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago (THE CLOWN THAT KILLED). As a child, Gacy lived an average life. He had an elder sister, Joanna, and a younger sister, Karen, that he got along with fairly well. After school young Gacy would immerse himself in activities like Boy Scouts. Sadly, Gacy did not have a very good relationship with his father. He attended four different high schools and was never able to graduate. After those attempts, he dropped out of high school and moved to Vegas. Vegas was not much better. Gacy was unable to get a good job since he did not have a high school diploma (Rachel Bell and Marylin Bardsley). He worked as a janitor for Palm Mortuary (John Wayne Gacy #237). It did not pay well, and it took three months for him to finally save up enough money to move back to Chicago. After he moved back, Gacy enrolled in a business college and eventually graduated. While there, he perfected his talent for salesmanship. He was able to talk his way in and out of almost everything. After college, Gacy got a job at the Nunn-Bush Shoe Company. He excelled at it, and shortly after being hired, he transferred to manage a men’s clothing store in Springfield. While in Springfield, he gained a lot of weight which caused some back problems and worsened his heart problems. Weight, heart and back problems would plague him for most of his life. In Springfield he got involved in many community organizations and devoted most of his free time to them. In September of 1964, Gacy married his co-worker, a woman named Marlynn Myers whose parents owned a Kentucky Fried Chicken string in Waterloo, Iowa (Rachel Bell and Marylin Bardsley). Fred W. In 1975, Gacy started making sexual advances towards a young man named Tony Antonucci who worked with him (Rachel Bell and Marylin Bardsley). After Antonucci had threatened to hit him with a chair, though, Gacy backed off. A month later, Antonucci came to Gacy’s house to visit him. Gacy tried to trick Antonucci into letting him handcuff him. When he believed he had securely handcuffed the boy, he started to undress him. Little did he know that Antonucci had made sure one of his hands was loosely secured and was able to wrestle Gacy to the ground and handcuff him. Antonucci made Gacy promise to never try to touch him again before releasing him. Gacy kept his word, he never made advances towards Antonucci again and Antonucci continued to work for Gacy for almost a year afterwards. Jeffrey Rignall was not as lucky as Antonucci was, though he was lucky enough to be one of the few victims of Gacy to survive. On May 22, 1978 Gacy pulled up next to Rignall and offered to share a joint with him while they rode around town (Rachel Bell and Marylin Bardsley). Rignall took the offer, and after they rode around for a bit, Gacy covered his face in a chloroform soaked rag. He was kidnapped and raped by Gacy and woke up the next morning in a local park.
