The man that killed President Lincoln in 1865 had some motives for his doing. John Wilkes Booth did not just kill Lincoln out of anger and spite, he was a very strong supporter of the south and slavery; Those being some of his reasons. Booth was chased for twelve days before being captured and killed. All this information was found in Chasing Lincoln’s Killer, biography.com, and Booth’s Last Diary Entry. To start off, John Wilkes Booth thought that killing Lincoln would benefit the USA. In his last diary entry Booth claims, “I struck for my country,” and after he had been on a twelve day man hunt, he had to return, “wet, cold, and starving with every man’s hand against me,” thinking that his actions would change the U.S. for the better.
