Success is the most commonly known term people use to define their lifetime achievements. The traditional way to define success is: a person thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity. Success is considered to be any achievement one has, however; success overrules the stereotype that success only comes from having the highest income. Every living person has their own interpretation of what success is. Countless humans would agree that success is similar to progress, which proposes my second definition to success; success is not always making the right decisions but always having your priorities straight. In, Lessons Learned from John Wooden, Wooden has his own particular meaning of success: “Peace of mind attained only through self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do the best of which you're capable (Wooden).” From the minute we are born, we fuss, and bring worry, and fall into the wrong crowd, and make the wrong decisions, however; those mistakes are not inexcusable. As life goes on we all learn to mature and make brighter decisions, therefore a person who struggled greatly in the past with personal development should not be considered a failure. People tend to believe you are only successful if you are a part in providing financially for your family, which is 100% false. In the article, Achieving True Success and Prosperity, the author states that success, “cannot be determined merely by the amount of money and material possessions you have.”(Yogananda). Many mothers and even fathers choose to be the stay at home parent with no job; and that to them could be considered their own personal success. As a parent your main goal in life is to ensure that your child is provided with the necessary skills and tools to have a victorious life. Yogananda begins to explain that success relies on the inner happiness you obtain from life, because your feeling of triumph coming from the ability to watch your child/children accomplish everything you believed in them for is just as successful.
