This paper will present a case conceptualization and case formulation within a group setting. Acceptance Commitment therapy is used as a chosen theoretical model for case formulation. Johnson model of intervention will be used for intervention on the group setting. The purpose of the group is to attend the mandated psychotherapy and living skills. The group members are mandated by the Drug Court Parramatta and Sydney to attend psychoeducation and living skills groups in exchange for parole. The agency is an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. There are approximately five group members that participate in the psychoeducation. The group rules are (1) they cannot attend the group if they are under the influence of the substance, (2) they cannot be late for the psychoeducation, if they are they will be marked absent, (3) we can agree to disagree and they cannot disengage themselves during the session, (4) do not divulge what was shared by the group members during the psychoeducation to others, (5) no toilet/cigarette breaks during the session, (6) no answering of the mobile phones and it should be silent, (7) respecting the facilitators of the groups as they are counselling students. Clients have presented anxiety, impulse control disorder and other behavioral issues throughout the psycho-education. Clients have alluded that they had anxiety due to their substance use. Anxiety is very common in the clients and the “victim mentality” is evident throughout the group members. The clients use a packet of cigarette to cope with their cravings, they rely heavily on a cigarette to cope and this, in turn, has been a new issue. Failure to cope in a healthy way has led the client to form more physical, financial and other issues. The group members present the issue of substance(s) abuse and due to their history of drug use society treats them differently. The parole officers regularly visit the group members to ascertain their whereabouts and activities. The group members live with each other during the rehabilitation, therefore, they become susceptible to substance abuse when other group members start using substances. The clients also have friends and family who are under the influence of substance abuse therefore going back home or meeting with them makes the clients susceptible to substance abuse. The group members started substance use when they were in their teens, peer pressure and also experimenting with substances led to clients having an addiction. The group members are all from a poor class socioeconomic class and in their neighborhood substance abuse was very common and
