Jonathan was a great man of God, as well as a Courageous warrior who fought lots of battles for the lord. One day Jonathan’s father asked him to lead an army to battle by himself to attack the philistines, while his father led another. His father trusted him to lead an army into battle. By leading this army himself, Jonathan showed courage, and proved himself to be good leader (1 Samuel 13:2). Jonathan led the one thousand Israelite men into battle, and then attacked the philistine army. Furthermore he took his armor-bearer, and went to see if the lord would give the philistines into their hands. But what we haven't talked about yet is Jonathan and his relationship with the Lord. Jonathan did many things for the Lord; he won many battles and even saved Israel. Jonathan trusted the Lord; he put his faith and trust in him, and many times they both gained something. In 1 Samuel 14, Jonathan waits for the Lords signal. When Jonathan gets the signal from the Lord, he heads over to where the Philistines are, to kill them and take them into the hands of Israel. The Lord won a great battle that day, with the help of Jonathan, who trusted the lord, and did what the lord asked him to do. Jonathan always put the lord first, no matter what other people said, the Lord was the on Jonathan responded to, and who he listened to. In 1st Samuel 20:23 Jonathan says “And about the matter you and I discussed - Remember, the Lord is witness between you and me forever." Meaning that God is very much important to Jonathan, and he cares about what the lord thinks of him. He wants nothing more than to please and serve the lord for the rest of his life.
