He carried her body upstairs, where someone covered the body with a sweat shirt. JonBenet had been beaten and strangled was found with tape over her mouth and her hands tied together with a cord. Death resulted from both a severe blow to the head that fractured her skull and by strangulation with a cord tightened with a broken stick around her neck. The six year old girl had also been vaginally assaulted. Detectives found a note pad in the Ramsey’s house determined the pad was used to write the ransom note. John Ramsey was ruled out as the writer of the note but the police could not eliminate Patsy as the writer nor say definitively that she was. A broken window had been observed in the basement but John Ramsey told the investigators that he had broken the window when he locked himself out of the house.
