The life of a Holocaust survivor is often thought of as a life that is filled with sorrow and suffering. This is not a false belief, as it is based off of truth. The Holocaust was a time period in which suffering lay at every corner. It was a major tragedy that demonstrates the dangers we humans hold when we fail to be tolerant and accepting of others. The Holocaust was an event happening before the start of the second World War and was caused when Hitler managed to convince people that the Jews were responsible for the events that had transpired. Adolf took advantage of the situation Germany was in to turn people against the Jews and blame them for their own misfortunes caused by the previous World War. The life of Joseph Alexsander is an example of this horrible event that transpired and left a scar on the history of mankind. Joseph Alexsander was a Jew was was born on August 3rd, 1923 and was in the camp of Auschwitz in 1941 while at the age of 18. We love unconditionally yet we can also be as harsh as a storm. Altogether, we each have our moments where we either influence the people around us negatively or positively. The Holocaust was a major event that left a negative scar on our history. It was a horrible time, but it carries with it a valuable lesson to those who come after. The ability to be tolerant and inclusive of everyone is vital to ensure this tragedy does not reoccur. This lesson is powerful and will guide us towards a future with less pain and suffering approaching our step.
