One country in which a major genocide took place that few people at the time acknowledged was the genocide in the Ukraine which was a forced famine introduced by Russia in which many at the time didn't want to acknowledge as a genocide. This genocide was a forced famine which was put in order by Joseph Stalin who was the new Czar of Russia just after the death of Vladimir Lenin in 1924. The death of Vladimir Lenin was a key point in which the people of Ukraine had decided that it was time to declare their independence from Russia. Soon after Stalin gained power there visualization of freedom would soon come to an end. One of Stalin beliefs was to reclaim the land the Russia had once lost in wars before. Although the effects of the famine affected the people harshly many refused to produced food and supplies for the government, Because of their act of defiance Stalin increased the famine which desecrated the people to the point where 25,000 people a day were dying because of the lack of food. Rights that were deprived by Stalin in order to control the population of the Ukraine were the right to life. In which Stalin deprived the population of food because of defiance, and demanded that the huge population which were made of farmers to produce goods for the government. These rights were essential to the people's way of life because many people used their crops and other goods to support their family and to make a living by selling and trading.
