Have you ever thought to yourself, ‘Am I a good person?’ ‘Have I ever made mistakes that hurt others or myself?’ This is the Josh Gordon story - a person who has great talents, but poor judgment that led him to a big downfall. Josh Gordon is a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Browns in 2012 as a junior from the University of Baylor, but then transferred to the University of Utah. He immediately got off to a sizzling start. In 2013, he led the league with 87 catches for 1,646 yards and 9 touchdowns, just playing 14 games. After the 2013 season, people considered him the star and the future of the Browns. Everything was going great for Josh Gordon. He had money and fame, he had it all. But then, the tables started to turn really quickly. It was the summer of 2014 when he started to get into serious trouble. He was arrested on July 5th, 2014 while driving impaired (alcohol and drugs) and cited with a DUI (Driving Under the Influence). According to Chris Carter, ESPN Analyst, one of his anonymous Browns teammates said that “If Josh Gordon didn’t get his life together he would not play football”. Another teammate from Cleveland, D’Qwell Jackson, said “As a person he is nice, but his mental makeup is not.” Few, if not most, of his teammates mentioned that they lost hope in Josh Gordon because of his lack of responsibility. The most serious infraction was that he skipped the last game of the year. How many chances will this guy get? On the other hand, some of his teammates still stuck by him, making the time to talk and provide guidance. Will he get more opportunities to turn things around?
