Journal Entry 2: My Planned Program of Study
My planned program of Study is Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Some of my courses include: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, English Composition, Psychology in Everyday life, Foundational literacy Skills and Phonics, and Survey of Special Education: Mild to Moderate disabilities. I listed these five courses because they are the ones that stuck out to me the most. And I know in becoming a teacher these will be the five I will have to utilize the most. For me the Critical Thinking and Problem solving go hand in hand with the English Composition and the Literacy skill and phonics. I know I will learn in these courses, how to be able to teach the children the knowledge that is foundational to their academic education. The Special Education will be extremely helpful to me to learn how to recognize which children need the most help and how I can help them. Because it is a program that will be used all throughout all the courses. Second, to me you need to know somewhat of what it actually takes place in a classroom. In the courses that I am taking, I know that I will be learning the dynamics of classroom teaching educational wise. I think that people assume they know what all it takes to be an effective teacher. I already have a bit of an understanding in what is needed to be a teacher. I am hoping in what I lack educationally that I will be able to pick up and be a very effective teacher in the classroom. I will use the skills I’m learning about time management to devote time necessary to finish my assignments in each subject on time. In doing this, my assignments will reflect that I have taken my time and used my full attention and do not seem rushed and
