In the novel, “The Rent Collector” by Cameron Wright, Sang Ly is a Cambodian woman below the poverty line living with her family in the dump. While in the dump Sang Ly is curious because of her interest in wanting to read, she is loving because no matter how sick her son, Nisay, gets, she is always there for him, finally Sang Ly is worrisome because the dump is a dangerous place
I’m Trying My Best We always say that we protect our loved ones from unfamiliar things or situations that may put them in danger, but is this true? . Are protecting our loved ones or ourselves?. The author May Chai Lee in the short story “Saving Sourdi”, it’s a first person perspective that talks about a young sister name Nea that wants to “save” Sourdi the older from a fix marriage that their mother has arrange with an older man. And how Nea deals with this events. This story is written with the immature and unreliable 12-year old perspective.

Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon is a novel that is set in the 20th century, Michigan which follows the life of Macon Dead III, who gets the nickname milkman. His sisters are Magdalene, who is called Lena, and First Corinthians. His parents are Ruth and Macon Dead Jr. Unlike most African American families during this time period, the Dead family were financially stable and could afford things that were deemed luxurious. Even though they had money, they still were unhappy with their lives. This shows that you can be living ,but you can also be dead.
In the novel A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J Gaines, Grant is a main character that has a lot of influence over the people in his community. Some might even consider him a hero. I believe that Grant is a hero because he helps Jefferson become a man, changes himself for the better, and wants to continue changing the community. Over the course of the novel, Grant helps Jefferson become the man that he needs to be in order to walk to his death with honor. When Grant first begrudgingly went to visit Jefferson in prison Jefferson was in a really low state.

In the book Year of impossible goodbyes Sookan changes a lot at the beginning she is innocent and does not know what is going on, In the middle she is a bit less innocent and starts getting interested about what is going on, and at the end she is responsible and knows what is going on in the world. Sookan does not have much knowledge of the outer world and she can 't make her own decisions. "I once told Aunt Tiger about my pretty pink nails, hoping that she and I could venture off and plant a secret garden somewhere.(Choi 15)". This shows that she didn 't know much about how gruesome the war was. This also shows that she only wanted to do fun things and yes work.
Behind the Beautiful Forevers, written by Katherine Boo, is about residents of Annawadi, a slum in Mumbai, India. These slums of Mumbai force kids to grow up faster than anywhere else on the planet. Forcing kids to work as soon as they can walk, and press them into tough situations. The book details the lives of the female slumlord, Asha, and her daughter Manju. Asha is part of the corrupt system of government, and wants her daughter to be just like her when she grows up.
Baba and Amir's foil is shown throughout the novel, but you can already identify many differences at the beginning of the book when they lived in Kabul. Although, they also do have a few similarities. They are similar because they are father and son and share similar characterises. Baba and Amir both grew up wealthy as they are Pashtuns. Amir and Baba both hold hard secrets and live their life filled with guilt.

Rikki Tikki is a courageous character because the love for his family made him so.
Character Sketch on “The Robe” In the story “The Robe” by Lloyd C. Douglas, Marcellus Lucan Gallio, a Roman Tribune, who has done his public duty carries out the Crucifixion of Christ and wins Christ’s garment in a game of dice. Marcellus has abandoned the worship of Gods, unlike his noble servant, Demetrius, who desire to keep the Robe, felt his enslavement to Marcellus is a participation in the destruction of Jesus and escapes with the Robe. As the story progresses, Marcellus guilt at the role he played in Christ’s Crucifixion has been troubling him, he then sets forth on a quest to find the truth about the Nazarene’s robe. Over time, Marcellus quest reaches to the very roots and heart of Christianity and is set in a spiritual longing and ultimate redemption.

Sookan changes from a little girl that was afraid to do anything that she was not told to do at the beginning of the book to a strong, Brave girls that protects her brother when they are in centrian danger when trying to get to the south. On example of Sookan at the beginning is when grandfather has her and Inchun wash his feet and not for mother to do it. " Will you rub some of that oil on my feet?" " My daughter, did you not hear me ask my grandchildren, not you, to do it this time...... it would not hurt them."
