I went to court today to watch the testimony. Judge Danforth wouldn’t listen to me when I exhorted him to let Mr.Corey go back home and come back with a lawyer. I believe that Mary was lying about witchcraft, but Judge Danforth didn’t want to think that he was the slightest chance of being wrong. Mary Warren confessed that all the things that she and the girls were doing were pretense, and Abigail said Mary was lying. Unbelievably, John Proctor confessed that he committed adultery, and he confessed it was with Abigail. John Proctor swore that his wife never lies, and she would prove that he really did commit adultery with Abigail. When Goody Proctor came to testify that John did commit adultery with Abigail; she said that John was a good husband
