Make Judgments about what a character did- was it morally right or wrong? In the book The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls each of the characters go through a lot. The first part of my book mainly consisted of three characters by the names of Jean, Liz, and their mom. Throughout this section there is a very big decision made by the mom that I thought was wrong. Their mom would leave for days or weeks at a time leaving them behind to take care of themselves. Jean and Liz were fine with it until their mom left and didn’t come back. She sent them a letter saying “My darling Liz and Sweet Bean, It’s 3 a.m. and I’m writing from a hotel in San Diego. I know I have not been at the top of my game recently, and to finish my songs-and be the mother I want to be-I need to make some time and space for myself. When I read this I immediately thought this was wrong. Leaving two children behind so you can fulfil your dreams is something I would never do and something that anyone should never do. Jean and Liz are questioned by people in her community about their presence of their mother. They always have to lie for her to buy her some time to get home. The decision for her to leave is morally wrong and by leaving her children behind left them with many problems to face. A problem they faced had to deal with the cops. When someone told the cops about the mom leaving the two children they had to leave their house so they wouldn’t have to get split up from their mother. Also, Liz (15) is left with the responsibility of her younger sister Jean (12) which she isn’t ready for. Liz is left with making decisions that will benefit them both like leaving their house to live with their uncle. In addition Liz has to provide for Jean by working since Jean is too young to get a job to help out. In the end I do belive leaving the children while the mom went to California was
