Zootopia is a movie about a rabbit named Judy Hopps who wants to become the first rabbit police officer, even though it is unorthodox and challenging for her species to become one. She is dead set on realizing her dreams, despite others’ disparaging remarks on her aspirations, and toughs through police training, rising from the bottom of her class to the valedictorian. After finishing her training, she is assigned to work at Zootopia, where Judy realizes that she is being looked down upon and underestimated because of her species. When opportunity presents itself, Judy takes the chance to solve a mystery case, as to show the rest of the police that even though she is a rabbit, she could do just as good a job as an officer as any other animal. …show more content…

An instance of this is when Judy preservers through her police training lessons. At the beginning of training, she was the worst performing cadet in the program, constantly falling behind on the obstacle courses and unable to spar with her peers in training. Despite these shortcomings, she holds on, and perseveres, training much harder than her fellow cadets. In the end, she finishes out on top, beating all the other animals at the obstacle courses and sparring, earning her the title of valedictorian. At graduation, she is assigned to the most prestigious district, Zootopia, only to be given the role of meter maid of the city. This event completely surprises the audience, as one would expect Judy’s hard work and diligence to be awarded with a respectable position as a police officer who deals with serious criminals, but rather Judy is tragically stuck with a pathetic job. This creates situational irony, as the opposite of the expected happens, which creates the tragic event that Judy must face. But, despite this setback, Judy continues to persevere, and uses an opportunity she is presented with to show the rest of the police force that she is a capable officer.
