Julie’s Wolf Pack A young teenage Eskimo girl gets lost on the Alaskan Tundra and has to trust a pack of wolves to give her the strength and education to survive in the wild. She once had gotten lost, but was able to locate the North Star to give her directions back home, but this time the sun was shining twenty four hours a day. She sets up camp in Brooks Range next to a wolves den observing their daily activity. Her daddy had told her stories about Eskimos that became friends with wolves and were able to co-exist sharing food and friendship. Her struggle for survival was to learn quickly how to build their trust and share their kills for food. This story was written from the wolf’s point of view and the wolf packs survival depended on how they worked together as a team taking guidance from the alpha leaders. This book covers six active wolf packs in Northern Alaska Territory. The story is about a pack called the Avalik River Pack and their rivals. In this book there is one alpha leader named Kapu and his rival pack leader Raw Bones. In the story the alpha males fought but Kapu was always strong enough to beat the other wolves and hold his place as the leader. One time, Kapu fought his rival and won taking two stronger wolves into his pack, named Storm Call and Nuku. These two wolves help make Kapu’s pack stronger …show more content…

One day in Brook’s Range it was snowing so hard and left so much snow it was nearly impossible for the wolves to hunt. Starvation was common along with illnesses. Rabies went through Kapu’s rival pack and tragically, the alpha male along with eight other wolves ended up dying from this disease. Ice Blink, the alpha rival female ends up joining Kapu’s group but later died from rabies.
