At Julius Caesar's funeral two people gave speeches about Caesar and one of them had sympathy for him while the other mentioned his bad decisions. Brutus wants to kill Caesar, but to kill him he must give the people a reason. Brutus tells the Rome citizens how ambitious Caesar is and they end up killing Caesar. Antony Caesar’s friend talks at Caesar’s funeral and tries to prove the people wrong after being convinced by Brutus. Antony also mentions how Caesar was not ambitious because he was offered to be king three times and denied. Although Brutus is thinking about the Rome citizens, Antony delivers the most effective speech because he makes the people rethink their opinion about Caesar and he tells the people how much Caesar loved them. …show more content…

Antony says “The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, and grievously hath Caesar answered it.” At Caesar’s funeral, this means everything that Caesar did he will pay for after his death. Another is accepting that Caesar might have made mistakes by saying he will pay for them. Since Caesar is not there to defend himself, Antony as his friend and as a Rome citizen understands the people and his friend. Antony tries to demonstrate that Caesar was not ambitious like Brutus said, but was respectful to Brutus. Anony says “Caesar hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner stuff: Yet Brutus says he was ambitious; and Brutus is an honorable man.” in his funeral speech. Anony is giving the people an example of how Caesar was not ambitious but also keeping in mind that
