Who’s Speech Had More Support? The “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar” by William Shakesphere is a history and tragedy play used to give information on Julius Caesar’s death while adding everyday conflict. In the story Julius Caesar, the main characters start a plot against Caesar that will lead to his death. During the funeral two people gave speeches, such as Mark Antony and Brutus. Mark Antony and Brutus’s speeches were different from each other in two ways. One supported him, and one did not. Who persuaded the audience to their side, Brutus or Antony? Both Antony and Brutus held speeches at Caesar’s funeral, in which they tried to justify why each side was justified. “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more”(Anderson and Inc) This is an insert from Brutus’s speech that he used ethos to try and convince the plebeians that Caesar was greedy and ambitious, trying to take over Rome and not see what was good for the people. Which is why I side with Antony's speech because he uses what the people of Rome care about to try and persuade them to turn against the conspirators.
