Julius Iscariot Summary Chapter 18

152 Words1 Pages
We arrive at the Garden of Gethsemane in the beginning of chapter 18. This is where Judas Iscariot fulfills Old Testament prophecy by betraying Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. When Judas and his band of men arrive, they say that they seek Jesus the Nazarene. They fall to their feet when Jesus says,"I am He." A near seven hundred people fell to their feet at the power of His name. This is another example of Jesus identifying Himself as God with an I AM. This also shows that instead of fleeing Jesus offers himself up, fulfilling God's will and not man's will. When they attempt to arrest Jesus, Peter strikes out with his sword cutting of the ear of Malchus. Jesus rebukes Peter and heals Malchus, showing no matter what, God is in control.
