The text Republic by Plato has many different views and themes. Considering what side or how much you have read of it will determined how much you truly understand. Republic consists of ten books, one through seven are just trying to answer the question Socrates asks in book one. What is justice? This question take most of Republic to answer fully. It then turns into a two part question, what is justice in the individual and in the state? By book nine he has answered this quite deeply.
