There are many companies and organizations that work in a similar manner and industry. Given the opportunity, merging like organizations could lead to a prosperous economic effect. Without mergers, many of the most well known brands and companies would not be where they are today. Some of the merged companies are so successful we cannot even remember a time when they were apart. Can you imagine where will Pixar end up without Disney and visa versa? Two companies that our team selected for the possible merge are KAYAK and Groupon. But with their small workforce, the company still makes $100-$500 million per year (Kayak.com, n.d). KAYAK’s purpose is to provide the user, either through their mobile application or website, with the best deal when it comes to traveling. This includes prices on airline tickets, hotels, rental cars, and travel agencies. KAYAK has features that allow users to filter different categories to adhere to their travel means such as location, prices, and star ratings for hotels. KAYAK also has specialized tools to assist users with their search, some of the tools include KAYAK Trips, Explore, and Price forecast Search Flights, Hotels, Rental Cars & Vacations (KAYAK report, 2013). On KAYAK’s career webpage, the company’s environment relies heavily on teamwork. Each department in the company encourages communication between employees regardless on the position they hold. Also on the career page, KAYAK presents a list of some of the benefits they have to those who work at KAYAK. Some of the benefits included are four weeks paid vacation, a day off on your birthday, three year anniversary travel bonus, no stupid meetings, flexible hours, regular team events/excursions, and much more (Careers at KAYAK, n.d). With such a large workforce, the company makes between $2-$5 billion per year (Groupon, n.d). Groupon has a website and mobile application that offers customers discounts and coupons for a range of commodities, such as food and drink, beauty and spa, retail, home services, and more. This company has very high ratings, five stars on its mobile application, and has been downloaded 130 million times. On Groupon’s career webpage, the statement the company brings the most attention to is the fact that it supports a diverse workplace. Groupon makes an explicit and lengthy statement regarding the diversity at Groupon and they do not discourage against someone’s sex, sexual orientation, race, medical condition, marital status, or citizen status (Groupon Careers, n.d). To further establish their statement, Groupon has a video on the webpage that details the inclusive culture at Groupon. Also on its career page, there is a tab labeled “Culture” that displays social media posts and several blogs about different groups at Groupon. The blogs are written about individual employees and several different organizations and groups such as “Women in Engineering” and “Groupon Welcomes Girls Who Code” (Groupon Careers: Culture, n.d). Let us have a grasp of the KAYAK and Groupon merger. Our merger plan is based on the John Kotter’s eight step method, we represented it as a
