Kanye West’s Impact On The Rap/Hip-Hop Industry (change) Introduction to What I Know, Assume, and Imagine. A person of utmost interest, influence, and controversy in modern times. From his amazing hip-hop albums to his questionable takes, Kanye West is one to leave an impact on. Recently, a new album titled Vultures 1 was released by West (now known as Ye) and singer Ty Dolla Sign. The album received mixed reviews and it made me revisit West’s earlier albums such as The College Dropout and Late Registration to wonder how he had changed so much. I had then remembered about the 2002 car crash that West had gotten into, almost killing him, which made me wonder if Kanye West had died in that car crash, how would the rap/hip-hop industry be today? …show more content…

Recently, the Drake and Kendrick beef has been circulating in the hip-hop/rap industry and Kanye openly supported Kendrick’s side with his release of the “Like That Remix”, stating in his opening verse “Yo, Dot, I got you.” (West, 2024). So maybe Drake would take back his words, and perhaps he doesn’t think of Kanye as an influential figure anymore because he supports Lamar.
