Brand Selection For this assignment and this part of the brand selection I have chosen the brand Kate Spade New York. While the first store opened in New York the brand has expanded and now has over 140 stores throughout the US and more than 175 internationally. While the brand isn’t couture, it is classy and well know in the fashion industry. The company sells handbags, jewelry, accessories, fragrance, shoes, clothing, home décor, stationary, gifts, and tech accessories. The company’s target demographic is women and girls of all ages. I chose this brand because it is a brand that I have many of their products such as shoes, handbags, accessories, and jewelry. While the Kate spade is not a market leader they are still well known and found all over the US and found internationally. It is beneficial for brands like Kate Spade New York to use market segmentation, for example the categories of, gender related, age groups, and Geographic’s. Specifically, Kate Spade is marketed to urban city woman wanting a modern feel. Age group is important to establish and segment because while some products are modern and professional, there are also kitchen products, and fun colorful products for young millennial. The general consumer average of Kate Spade ranges between the ages of twenty and thirty-five. In the terms of geography, Kate Spade is sold at not only their stores in high-ended malls, but large department stores like Nordstrom and Macys, and sold worldwide. While many of the stores are in large city’s it is important to remember the geographic aspects of weather and seasons because many of the products are clothing and many consumers want seasonal
