Her race has affected how she was looked upon many times in her life. Katherine Johnson was a black woman who in her teens, became one of the first to desegregate the schools in West Virginia by being one of the first black people to attend to West Virginia’s flagship school. But being one of the first blacks to attend to a mainly white flagship school made it so that the aurora of the school towards her was unwelcome and negative.
