In the short story “The last Dog” by Katherine Patterson, a young man named Brock was in a controlled environment in a dome. He desperately wanted to go outside and see the world that he had been told was toxic and deadly. The lesson I learned was that you can’t always trust what someone has said, and you can’t trust what you see with your own two eyes. I loved reading the story “The Last Dog” I felt it was very inspirational and you can find many meaning from the story. In my time that the class was reading the story, I felt very in-tone with the story and that I could relate to Brock’s situation and that I would do the same thing. I grew up around dogs and if I saw a puppy with its dead mother I would take it in just like Brock did.

Through the beginning of the story Brock tell you how much he wants to go outside. He also describes how controlled he is inside of the dome. Once he goes outside of the dome he takes all of the proper precaution so that he wouldn’t get hurt by the “toxins” that he was always told about. He finds the dog and takes it with him back to the dome. Once he gets there he starts to relies that he was always told wrong and that the outside world his perfectly fine. So he thinks up of a plan and then has some trials and then he fakes having rabies and the people let him lose so that he can go and live outside of the dome. …show more content…

The dome people where all the same people because of it bring a controlled environment. Brock was the main character in the story. The dog was the companion in the story. The setting of the story was in a future time period after the world has “ended”. It is in the dome witch would be a clean and bright place. The outside world would be overgrown and not surprising from what Brock was told in the beginning of the
