Through the Hunger Games it becomes clear of the impact Katniss Everdeen has towards the Capitol and the world she lives in through mass media. She is unaware of her actions in the beginning, but her motivations and care for other members during the Hunger Games entices feelings from viewers in all districts and not just hers. The candidate from district 12 Katniss is the Catalyst for what is to come and for the fate of all the districts. By breaking the rules and forcing her own way it makes the Capitol seem weak making her words powerful and her actions meaningful.

Before the big games there is a training which judges potential out of 12 points. Katniss says:

It was because of her high temper and skill with her bow that she was able to score a high 11 starting with an edge in favor so early in the game. Without her realizing it she has the audience's attention making the games go ever in her favor. She does this without much recognition though and it is soon represented to her through care packages, which become helpful due to future implications during the games. She becomes more aware of this with her partner from district 12. A love story from a district far far away; it made the audience wild.
